Life in General

Yes, Ted, I had noticed that the old site had left us. I just couldn't remember the correct address for the new site.

I am recovering fine, no more meds...I just have to do my balance exercises. When I first get up in the morning I look like a toddler learning how to walk until my eyes manage to get themselves lined up together. I am looking forward to being able to blow my nose again and small things like that in the next couple of days. I go back to Milwaukee on the 20th to get the external equipment hooked up and turned on and then we shall see how it goes. Mom is supposed to come back down for that time to help me for few days. They recommend that you have someone with you when they turn it on so that they can drive you home while you are overwhelmed by all the little noises you hear. I am surprised at how much I have come to depend on my left ear for music. Even listening to a CD in the car is difficult when you can't hear all the notes and stuff. The device I chose to have implanted/use has a few unique settings. One is a Whisper setting that will be helpful for those quiet students. Another on is a Smart Mic setting which can help cut out surrounding noise and focus on what is in front of me. I can even plug an ipod or MP3 player right into it!

Ace came home today and seems to be startled by all the sounds and stuff again. Pray he doesn't start flying until I can get away without the ceiling fans. It is nice to have my little buddy back. Apparently he was the most requested animal for winter placement this summer. Everyone wanted him. Anyone want a rabbit or gerbil? We had a little population explosion these past few weeks with one rabbit having 9 babies and another one having 10 babies.

I am working on my classroom stuff now. I will be working on my room for the next couple days. Institute is the 22nd, and the kids come on the 25th. I should have a much smaller class this year, which is a blessing! My "theme" this year is a treasure hunt with the idea that a good education is a treasure that everyone should be seeking. I bought a little chest and have been staining it and ordered some gold coins from Oriental Trading and such. We're going to do a "Treasure Hunt Across America" for S.S.

So that is my life at the moment. See you all later! I will be at Justin and Lisa's for Labor Day weekend for Lexi's birthday...Have we gotten our assignments for Christmas yet? We need to work on lists soon because most of your birthdays are coming up...and I don't have a clue for some of you!

So now all you need is an Ipod or MP3 player.
